Patent No.: US7862801B2 Issued: 04/Jan/2011Title: Adhesive dental bleaching compositions comprising polyvinylpyrrolidone
Applicant/Assignee: ULTRADENT PRODUCTS, INC
Application No.: 10/870293 Filing Date: 17/Jun/2004
Abstract:
A dental bleaching composition comprises a dental bleaching agent and a polyvinylpyrrolidone thickening agent. The bleaching composition may include water, flavoring agents, a basic substance and desensitizing agents, as desired. Polyvinylpyrrolidone avoids acid etching and chelation of teeth that were problematic in bleaches using carbomer as a thickener. A delivery system for delivering the bleaching composition comprises the aforementioned dental bleaching composition in combination with a moisture-resistant barrier layer such as a dental tray or a flexible strip of material.

Patent No.: US7862802B2 Issued: 04/Jan/2011Title: Patches for teeth whitening
Applicant/Assignee: LG HOUSEHOLD & HEALTH CARE LTD
Application No.: 10/915283 Filing Date: 10/Aug/2004
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a dry type tooth whitening patch comprising peroxide as a tooth whitening agent. In particular, disclosed is a dry type tooth whitening patch in which a peroxide is contained, as a teeth whitening agent, in a matrix type adhesive layer. The adhesive layer includes, as a base polymer thereof, a hydrophilic glass polymer which provides a strong adhesion to teeth while releasing the tooth whitening agent when hydrated on the enamel layers of teeth in the moist oral cavity. The dry type patch according to the present invention is convenient in use, as compared to wet type patches. Further, it exhibits a superior adhesion while being maintained in a state attached to the teeth for a lengthened period of time so as to assure an enough contact time between the whitening agent in the patch and stains on the teeth, thereby giving a sufficient whitening effect.

Applicant/Assignee: QUEST INTERNATIONAL B.V
Application No.: 10/591570 Filing Date: 04/Mar/2005
Abstract:
The present invention relates to particulate compositions comprising controlled release particles wherein discrete elements of flavouring-containing fat are dispersed in a gelatine matrix, the particles containing
0.1-40 wt %, preferably 5-30 wt % of flavouring
10-70 wt %, preferably 20-50 wt % of gelatine
and 0.1-75 wt %, preferably 5 -0 wt % of fat, the fat having a melting point of at least 35 DEG C.
the particles having a volume weighted average diameter of 50-1500 [mu]m. The particulate composition according to the present invention will release the flavouring comprised therein under specific conditions e.g. under the influence of shear forces, heat and/or moisture. The release rate upon consumption can be affected by varying the relative amounts of gelatine and fat and the gelling strength of the gelatine.
These compositions are therefore particularly suitable for imparting longer lasting taste sensation to confectionaries, in particular chewing gum, and to toothpaste.
