Application No.: 11/722649 Filing Date: 22/Dec/2005
Abstract:Improved citral and citronellal derivatives, and fragrance and flavorings including the derivatives, that have a longer useful shelf life than citral and citronellal and/or fragrances and flavoring including citral and citronellal, are disclosed. In particular, the derivatives maintain the fragrance characteristics of citral and citronellal, while lowering the allergic properties, and lemony flavors and fragrances with a longer shelf-life than citral and citronellal, are disclosed. Also discovered are methods of making the derivatives, and articles of manufacture including the derivatives. The derivatives replace the aldehyde group in citral or citronellal with a hydroxy group. In one embodiment, the derivatives also replaced one or more double bonds in citral or the double bond in citronellal with a cyclopropyl group, which can be unsubstituted, or substituted with one or two alkyl, preferably methyl, groups, or with an oxirane or thiirane ring or combinations thereof. The alkyl groups in the cyclopropyl groups can optionally be substituted, for example, with electron donating groups, electron withdrawing groups, groups which increase the hydrophilicity or hydrophobicity, and the like. Examples of suitable articles of manufacture include candles, air fresheners, perfumes, disinfectant compositions, hypochlorite (bleach) compositions, beverages such as beer and soda, denture cleanser tablets and flavored orally-delivered products such as lozenges, candies, and the like.

Applicant/Assignee:
Application No.: 11/762455 Filing Date: 09/Jul/2007
Abstract:Basic aluminum chloride (BAC) and aluminum zirconium antiperspirant active of enhanced efficacy are proposed. The acid activated aluminum-zirconium composition having low contents of both glycine and zirconium with Band III/II ration of less than 0.5 is found to provide higher efficacy than the corresponding heat activated aluminum zirconium antiperspirant salt with high HPLC Band III/II ratio and having high contents of both glycine and zirconium at similar M/Cl ratio. According to present invention, the interactions between amino acid such as glycine and aluminum species in BAC and aluminum-zirconium solutions greatly reduce the effective amount of aluminum monomer species, which attributed to the reduced efficacy and stability of the corresponding solutions. The aluminum and aluminum-zirconium antiperspirant salt compositions of enhanced efficacy have low molar ratio of amino acid/or buffer to metal(s) of 0.2 and preferably less than 0.15, with metal(s) to chloride molar ratio of at least 1.1. Preferably the aluminum-zirconium salts have aluminum to zirconium atomic ratio of 6 to 10. The compositions are further activated by acid, such as aluminum chloride.

Abstract:A wax-resin composite is made by melting thermoplastic hydrocarbon resin, optionally with an antioxidant. The melted thermoplastic hydrocarbon resin and waxes are blended at a temperature sufficient to melt the waxes. After blending and melting, the blended thermoplastic hydrocarbon resin and waxes are allowed to solidify. Solidification is followed by post-processing the wax-resin composite mixture to form slabs, pastilles, flakes or other forms. A method for producing a wax-resin composite comprises at least partially solvating a thermoplastic resin in a solvent to form a resin-solvent blend. This may be done at a heat of 80-85 DEG C. A composition of molten wax is blended with the resin-solvent blend. The resin-solvent blend and a molten wax are blended to form a wax-resin blend. This is followed by removing the solvent from said wax-resin blend.
