Abstract:A dispenser has a barrel which is closed at one end by a base and has a plurality of apertures at the other end through which a viscous material such as a gel or lotion is dispensed. A thermoplastic seal unit closes the plurality of apertures. The seal unit is comprised of an elongated section with a plurality of projections depending from the substantially planar section, the plurality of projections aligned with and closing the plurality of apertures. The seal unit can be removable and usually not replaceable after each use of the dispenser. The thermoplastic seal unit, which preferably is a thermoplastic elastomer, is molded onto the top surface of the barrel after the barrel top surface has been formed. It is molded into the apertures to thereby close the apertures. The seal unit can have pull tabs for the easy removal of the seal unit. This seal unit provides a positive seal for the lotion or gel substance that is to be dispensed from the barrel.

Abstract:Antiperspirant water in oil emulsions can suffer from inferior sensory properties, including wetness and/or slow "dry-down" and/or stickiness, even when the composition contains a polyhydric humectant, a known class of skin moisturiser. A balance of sensory properties can be achieved by formation of a base composition in the form of a water in oil emulsion in which the oil phase, preferably comprising 20 to 55% of the base composition, contains at least threshold proportions of both a volatile silicone and a sensory modifying oil, particularly selected from dicaprylyl ether and dicaprylyl carbonate, the sensory modifying oil advantageously being present in a weight ratio to the polyhydric humectant of from 3:4 to 4:1. Such compositions are particularly suitable for mixture with a liquifiable propellant to form aerosol compositions.

Abstract:This invention provides aluminum or aluminum alloy spheres/particles or a mixture of aluminum and aluminum alloy and/or aluminum zirconium powder to form an electrode together with an aluminum metal screen wire mesh or the like within a membrane pouch and in contact with an electrical power source. The heavy metal particles are combined with a salt water or gel solution. The membrane enclosure includes a wire mesh which is surrounded by a quantity of the aluminum micro-sized particles. Magnesium and/or copper particles may also be utilized. The porous membrane enclosure has an opening through which a wire is placed in contact with the electrical power source. The contact between the power source terminal and membrane enclosure either physically touches each other or the power source directly touches the internal wire mesh through a small opening in the membrane enclosure. The power source can be a DC supply. The system provides long term sweat control. The system may be wetted with tap water, distilled water and a saline gel solution mixed with the aluminum particles as the electrically conductive medium between the power source and the skin. A deodorant or fragrance is added to the long term sweat control system and exhibits characteristics lasting much longer than topical application.

Application No.: 11/823073 Filing Date: 26/Jun/2007
Abstract:Coated particles of metal (such as calcium) silicate that exhibit excellent odor neutralization and sebum absorption properties when present within certain cosmetic and/or personal care formulations and suspensions are provided. Uncoated calcium silicate exhibits a high pH level that may have a deleterious effect upon such cosmetic and/or personal care compositions, thereby rendering the overall composition ineffective for its intended purpose, particularly if the calcium silicate is present in its usual state at high loading levels. Alternatively, if certain materials present within personal care compositions exhibit a sufficiently low pH level, the effectiveness of such calcium silicates may be compromised as well.
Such novel coated/treated calcium silicates thus permit high loadings of this beneficial odor neutralizing/sebum absorbing additive within cosmetic and/or personal care formulations without causing any appreciable instability issues or viscosity modification concerns or allow for coexistence with such low pH materials without any appreciable reduction in performance capabilities of the calcium silicates themselves. Certain personal care compositions comprising these novel coated calcium silicate particulates are encompassed within this invention as well.
