Applicant/Assignee: THERMAGE, INC
Application No.: 10/404971 Filing Date: 31/Mar/2003
Abstract:
A method of creating a tissue effect at a tissue site delivers electromagnetic energy through a skin surface from an electromagnetic energy delivery device coupled to an electromagnetic energy source. At least one of the electromagnetic energy delivery device or electromagnetic energy source includes a memory. A reverse thermal gradient is created through the skin surface to sufficiently heat an underlying tissue site to provide that a temperature of the skin surface is lower than a temperature of the underlying tissue. Information is stored from the memory to facilitate operation of at least one of the electromagnetic energy delivery device or the electromagnetic energy source. Electromagnetic energy is applied through the skin surface to the underlying tissue. A tissue effect is created on at least a portion of the tissue site.

Patent No.: US7494492B2 Issued: 24/Feb/2009Title: Skin treatment device
Applicant/Assignee: THERATIVE, INC
Application No.: 11/216595 Filing Date: 30/Aug/2005
Abstract:
A compact hand held device is provided that can be safely used by those suffering from acne, blemished skin or fine wrinkles. The hand held device includes an on/off switch and a button that pulses the device when it is placed on the target site. A battery within the device powers a circuit board and drives a short pulse of current through a heating element, which heats up to approximately 300 DEG C. in less than 0.1 sec. Thermal conduction transfers the heat to the skin and causes a biological response that accelerates acne clearing, treats blemished skin or fine wrinkles. The total heat transferred is low enough to prevent burns. Application of acne treatment creams and gels further accelerates treatment

Applicant/Assignee: CONTOUR FABRICATORS, INC
Application No.: 11/492723 Filing Date: 25/Jul/2006
Abstract:

Flaps which are unitary with the central section extend from the side edges of the central section a distance beyond the side edges of the support surface. The flaps are thinner than the central section so as to depend from the central section and lie alongside the patient-supporting surface. The central section and the flaps are formed simultaneously by compressing a block of cushioning material in such manner that the central section forms a pad or cushion unitarily joined at its opposite sides to the flaps.
During the compression of the block to form the central pad and the flaps the external surfaces of the pad and flaps are heated to an extent sufficient to enable the surfaces of the pad and flaps to form a smooth, moisture proof skin.

Exudates are removed from the pouch by flexible tubing which is secured inside the pouch at one end, and secured at the other end to a portable drain/suction unit. The pouch contains porous material, and may optionally contain beads and fillers which are antibacterial in nature. The tubing can have a single or multi-lumen structure with perforations in the side walls of the end of the tube that is inserted in the pouch to allow body fluids to enter laterally. The portable drain/suction unit is preferably a portable battery powered device.
The pouch and the tube are sealed by a flexible sealing material which is applied to the outer surface of the skin around the periphery of the pouch and the tubing as it exits the pouch. This sealing material is preferably a hydro-colloid, a silicone, or a lyogel, such as a hydrogel, which are easily deformable. A cosmetic cover sheet is attached to the patient's skin over the closed wound drainage system.

Applicant/Assignee: HUMAN MATRIX SCIENCES, LLC
Application No.: 10/778253 Filing Date: 13/Feb/2004
Abstract:
The present invention provides compositions for the therapeutic and/or cosmetic treatment of Elastin comprising tissues. Therapeutic and cosmetic compositions comprising an elastin digest stimulate the endogenous production of Elastin and appear to enhance the elasticity of the skin and provide an external supply of peptide precursors of Elastin that penetrate into the tissue to which it is applied. The present invention describes compositions containing an elastin digest derived from proteolytic digestion of insoluble elastin derived from mammalian ligaments with a protein digesting composition, such as proteinase K. The elastin digest is a mixture of elastin peptides wherein the elastin peptide mixture comprises peptides of the sequence GXXPG, wherein X represents one of the natural amino acids.
The elastin digest of the present invention may also comprise epitopes of cytokines, growth factors and di-peptides. Methods of using these elastin digest comprising compositions for treating tissues in need of increased elasticity and or Elastin are described.

Application No.: 11/206671 Filing Date: 18/Aug/2005
Abstract:
A system for capturing and analyzing images of body features to identify treatments has a base unit with a processor and a display and an image management software component for presenting on the display a user interface to prompt a user to capture images in preselected locations on a body and to receive captured image data. The system has at least two light sources under control of the user interface that provide light following first and second light paths from the respective light sources to the plane of an imaging station, each light path having a significant portion of its light on the plane of the imaging station at a grazing angle of about ten to about thirty degrees. The first and second light paths when projected onto the plane of the imaging station intersect at an angle of at least sixty degrees.
An image sensor receives light from the light sources that is reflected from the surface of a body feature located at the imaging station and produces pixel image data representing the body feature. A rating software component receives the pixel image data from the image sensor and is configured to mimic the judgment of a dermatologist to provide a rating vector representing the condition of three or more attributes of the body feature represented by the pixel image data.

Application No.: 10/507759 Filing Date: 15/Sep/2004
Abstract:
An air conditioning seat device includes an air blower, and a dehumidifier for dehumidifying the air sent from the air blower owing to adsorption, and blows out the dehumidified air to holes provided on a skin of a seat through an air duct. In this makeup, the sweat on the body surface and in the clothes is rapidly vaporized, causing a large amount of vaporization heat loss. Accordingly, the human body feels coolness, and steaminess on the skin is suppressed owing to the sweat vaporization.

Patent No.: US7605167B2 Issued: 20/Oct/2009Title: Use of cyclopamine in the treatment of psoriasis
Applicant/Assignee:
Application No.: 10/682662 Filing Date: 09/Oct/2003
Abstract:
This invention concerns the use of cyclopamine, a naturally occurring steroidal alkaloid known for over thirty years, for the treatment of psoriasis and achievement of rapid clearance of the psoriatic skin lesions together with the reversion of the histopathological signs of disease to normalcy with no detectable side effects. The cyclopamine-induced clearance of psoriatic lesions from the skin of patients is associated with the causation of cellular differentiation in lesional epidermis and with the rapid disappearance of CD4(+) lymphocytes and other inflammatory cells from lesional skin. Therapeutic compositions comprising of cyclopamine and a corticosteroid and/or the pre-treatment of lesions with a corticosteroid provide significantly further increased therapeutic effectiveness over the use of cyclopamine alone or a corticosteroid alone.

Flavones and their glycosides have been reported to have the effect of inhibiting histamine release from mast cells or an immunosuppressive effect and expected for application as allergy therapies. However, most flavones exhibit their effects only at high doses, so that effective compounds at lower doses are highly desired. The present invention provides novel components capable of treating allergic diseases at low doses and compositions containing them.
