polyorganosiloxane
Applicant/Assignee: THE PROCTER & GAMBLE COMPANY
Application No.: 10/430647 Filing Date:

Abstract:
Disclosed are personal care or cosmetic compositions
comprising a dicarboxy functionalized polyorganosiloxane and methods for the cleaning or the
treatment of hair or skin and for enhancing delivery of active agents to hair or skin with the
compositions. Said personal care or cosmetic compositions can be formulated in a wide variety of
types of products for the skin and/or hair (or, more generally, keratin) such as mousses, gels (in
particular hair dressing gels), conditioners, hair dressing formulations or to aid comb-through of
hair, rinsing formulae, hand and body lotions, skin moisturizing products, skin cleansing or
disinfecting compositions, shower gels, toilet milks, cream foundations, make-up removal
compositions, sun and ultraviolet radiation protection lotions, creams or gels, skin care creams,
anti-age preparations, anti-acne preparations, local analgesics, mascaras, deodorants,
antiperspirants, lipsticks and other compositions of the same type. The use of dicarboxy
functionalized polyorganosiloxanes permits to confer benefits such as an increase in shine, gloss
or volume of hair, easier comb-through of hair, easier spreadability or slipperiness onto skin
it also permits a better persistence of active materials or benefits agents deposited onto the
surface and consequently permits to maintain the activity of the composition deposited on the
surface over time. The dicarboxy functionalized polyorganosiloxane can be used in an amount of
from about 0.1% to about 30%, preferably from about 3% to about 10% by weight, of said personal
care or cosmetic compositions.

Abstract:
The invention is directed at a disposable dry cleansing
article that is formed from a melt extruded fibrous web that has incorporated into the fibers
forming the web from 0.5 to 20 percent by weight of a melt extruded lathering surfactant. The
invention, dry article generally comprises a melt extruded fibrous web of a thermoplastic polymer
having a basis weight of from about 10 to 200 g/m<2>, preferably 10 to 150 g/m<2 >wherein the
fibers have a lathering surfactant incorporated into the fiber at a level that allows the article
to be used two (2) or more times with a rinse foam volume of 15 or more, with an initial foam
volume of at least 50 ml. The novel melt extruded web can be made by the following sequential
steps: (a) providing to an extruder a thermoplastic resin, such as polypropylene
(b)
blending into the resin a lathering surfactant at a temperature at which the surfactant is not

Abstract:
A plurality of
sheet-like substrates infused by an aqueous self-tanning position is enclosed in a dispensing
enclosure, from which they may be removed one at a time. The self-tanning composition adheres to
each substrate while in the container, and transfers from the substrate when applied to the skin
of a user. The aqueous self-tanning composition comprises 45% to 65% by weight of aqueous extract
of Japanese green tea, 5% to 15% dihydroxyacetone, 5% to 25% ethylethoxydyglycol, 3% to 10% PPG-
12-Buteth-16, 1% to 13% of a humectant, 0.05% to 0.5% of minerals, and other trace constituents
such as an exfoliator, moisturizer, colorant, anti-oxidant, tanning accelerator, preservative, and
sunscreen.
The substrates are infused by being placed in a vacuum chamber in which they
can be agitated and tumbled, and the ingredients are added in a specific order at specific
temperatures, with tumbling and agitation following each step for a specific period of
time.

Applicant/Assignee: SALVONA IP, LLC
Application No.: 10/948971 Filing Date:
24/Sep/2004
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an improved controlled
delivery system that can be incorporated in soap bars to enhance deposition of active ingredients
and sensory markers onto skin. The carrier system also provides controlled release or prolonged
release of these actives from the skin over an extended period of time. The controlled delivery
system of the present invention comprises substantially free-flowing, powder formed of solid
hydrophobic, positively charged, nanospheres of encapsulated active ingredients, that are
encapsulated in moisture sensitive microspheres. The high cationic charge density of the
nanosphere improves deposition of active ingredients onto skin.
The high cationic charge
density on the nanosphere surface is created by incorporating a cationic conditioning agent into
the solid hydrophobic matrix of the nanospheres, by incorporating a cationic charge "booster" in
the moisture sensitive microsphere matrix, or by using a cationic conditioning agent in the
nanosphere matrix in conjunction with a cationic charge "booster" in the microsphere matrix. The
invention also pertains to soap products comprising the controlled release system of the present
invention.

Compositions of the present invention are generally substantially free of substantial amounts of
other sunscreens. The triplet combination surprisingly provides and substantially maintains the
initial SPF value of the sunscreen composition throughout the period of UVR exposure. Compositions
of the invention are photostable such that each of sunscreen active in the triplet combination
does not appreciably photodegrade. The present invention accurately communicates the amount of UVR
photoprotection actually provided in natural sunlight and minimizes the amount of potential
harmful free radicals formed as byproducts of photodegradation.
