compositions for improved fragrancing of a surface
Applicant/Assignee: THE PROCTER &

Application No.: 10/428246 Filing Date:
02/May/2003
Abstract:
The invention provides a method for improving release, on a
surface, of a fragrance from an entrapment structure of at least one fragrance oil and at least one
entrapment material. The method destabilizes the entrapment structure by providing at least one trigger
molecule which preferentially associates with the entrapment material
and/or at least one
release agent which at least partially disrupts the entrapment structure. The invention also provides a
composition for improving release of a fragrance from a surface. The composition comprises at least one
fragrance oil
at least one entrapment material, the at least one fragrance oil and the at least
one entrapment material being capable, in use, of forming an entrapment structure on the surface. The
composition also comprises at least one destabilizing material, which permits formation of the
entrapment structure on the surface but which destabilizing material can, in use, destabilize the
entrapment structure by providing at least one trigger molecule which preferentially associates with the
entrapment material
and/or at least one release agent which partially disrupts the entrapment
structure
and at least one compatible solvent which doesn't interfere with the formation of the
entrapment structure on the surface. The present methods and compositions can improve fragrance
perception, by overcoming the differences in fragrance perception that result from different surface,
for example, skin, hydration levels and/or different surface types.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to photostable compositions that
provide protection from ultraviolet radiation ("UVR"). The invention particularly relates to the
sunscreens avobenzone, octocrylene and oxybenzone, forming a triplet sunscreen combination. Compositions
of the present invention are generally substantially free of substantial amounts of other sunscreens.
The triplet combination surprisingly provides and substantially maintains the initial SPF value of the
sunscreen composition throughout the period of UVR exposure. Compositions of the invention are
photostable such that each of sunscreen active in the triplet combination does not appreciably
photodegrade. The present invention accurately communicates the amount of UVR photoprotection actually
provided in natural sunlight and minimizes the amount of potential harmful free radicals formed as
byproducts of photodegradation.

Compositions, kits and methods are provided for restoring skin
barrier function to skin exposed to environmental elements and/or in a pathological condition. In
general, divalent cations such as calcium ions and/or magnesium ions are included in a physiologically
acceptable medium. In some embodiments, divalent cations are balanced with monovalent cations such as
sodium and potassium ions at appropriate ratios in order to maintain the homeostasis of skin barrier.
The compositions, kits and methods can be used as cosmetics, cosmeceuticals or pharmaceuticals for
improving skin condition, and preventing or treating dermatological diseases and skin
disorders.

cleansing preparation and system comprising coated acid and base particles
Applicant/Assignee:
Application No.: 11/201566 Filing Date:
10/Aug/2005
Abstract:
A foaming cleansing preparation and system that produce a high
quality, self-sustaining foam immediately upon exposure to water without physical agitation or rubbing
is provided. The inventive cleansing preparation is made up of at least one dry acid, at least one dry
base, and at least one liquid film-forming cleansing agent. When the cleansing preparation is exposed to
water, the acid(s) and the base(s) will react to form a gas and the cleansing agent(s) will form a
liquid film, and the gas and the liquid film will then interact to form or generate a foam. The
inventive cleansing system is made up of a plurality of delivery particles, with each such delivery
particle containing one or more components of the inventive cleansing preparation.

No.: 10/879804 Filing Date: 29/Jun/2004
Abstract:
A method and
system of conditioning human skin and hair using a hand-held skin/hair conditioner having
interchangeable interface conductors that are contoured to enhance electrical conductivity between the
conditioner and a variety of body areas. Each of the interchangeable interface conductors are preferably
formed to maximize surface area contact with a variety of body surfaces such as scalp/hair, body skin,
and facial skin. In a preferred embodiment, the skin/hair conditioner is formed to fit comfortably and
controllably in a user's grasp while providing maximum contact with the selected body surface. The
skin/hair conditioner includes an audio signal generator and a vibration mechanism to alert a user of a
change in status of the conditioner.
The interface conductors may be (1) smoothly rounded, (2)
include teeth, (3) spherical or hemispherical (4) include multiple rounded nodules. The housings for the
conditioner may be (1) elongated and somewhat flattened, (2) of elongated cylindrical shape, or (3) of a
compact configuration similar to a door knob. The interface conductors and conditioning system may have
a releasable latch, and spring arrangements for ejecting the interface conductor when the latch is
released.

Abstract:
Optically activated particles for use in cosmetic and
pharmaceutical compositions are disclosed. The optically activated particles include a solid substrate
having a fluorescent compound fixed thereto, and coated or encapsulated with a transparent or
translucent coating of crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol. The optically activated particles absorb light at
a UV wavelength and emit visible light at longer wavelengths, and are able to both absorb and scatter
light in a diffuse manner in order to reduce the visual perception of skin imperfections, including
cellulite, wrinkles, shadows, skin discolorations, blotchiness, and mild scars.

sunlight photostable composition
Applicant/Assignee: TANNING RESEARCH LABORATORIES, INC
Application No.: 11/052397 Filing Date:
07/Feb/2005
Abstract:
The present invention relates to photostable compositions that
provide protection from ultraviolet radiation ("UVR"). The invention particularly relates to the
sunscreens avobenzone, octocrylene and oxybenzone, forming a triplet combination. Compositions of the
present invention are free of diesters or polyesters of naphthalene dicarboxylic acid and also are
substantially free of substantial amounts of other sunscreens and substantial amounts of optimizing
agents. Sunscreens of the invention may be essentially free of, or free of, lower monohydric alcohol
and/or acrylates/C12-22 alkylmethacrylate copolymer in an effective non-pilling amount used to gel a C1
-C4 alcohol. The triplet combination surprisingly provides and substantially maintains the initial SPF
value of the sunscreen composition throughout the period of UVR exposure.
Compositions of the
invention are photostable such that each of sunscreen active in the triplet combination does not
appreciably photodegrade. The present invention accurately communicates the amount of UVR
photoprotection actually provided in natural sunlight.

guard
Applicant/Assignee:
Application No.: 11/262872 Filing
Date: 31/Oct/2005
Abstract:
A crescent-shaped splash guard, encircling the part of the
head to be washed, protects the eyes, ears and nose from soap and other solutions. It is placed
centrally on the forehead above the eyes. Two opposing side portions extend from the center to above and
behind the ears. The side portions form upper and lower edges providing a seal against the head. The
side portions form troughs about the periphery, directing water and hair washing solutions to the side
and back, and preventing solutions from dripping into the eyes, nose and ears. A handgrip in the splash
guard's center provides a grip for a "hairwasher." Holding the handgrip prevents the splash guard from
shifting. The "hairwasher" applies pressure to the splash guard via the handgrip to ensure that all hair
solutions are guided through the troughs and discharged away from the eyes, nose and
ears.
